Hands held beneath a stream of water

Free, no-obligation test

We come to your home and test hardness, chlorine and TDS at your tap.

Why test first

The right fix depends on your water

Two houses on the same street can have different water. One might be on city water and the other on a private well. One might have old pipes, a water heater full of scale, or a filter nobody has changed in years.

That is why we start with a test. A water softener, a drinking water system and a whole-home filter each do a different job. Picking one without knowing your water is guesswork, and guesswork can mean paying for something that does not solve your problem.

It also keeps the conversation honest. When the numbers are on the table, you can see for yourself why one system makes sense and another does not.

A test gives you a starting point. Even if you decide not to buy anything, you will know more about your water than you did before.

Before the visit, think about where you notice the problem. Does the taste change between the kitchen and a bathroom? Are spots showing up on dishes, or only near one faucet? Mention any filter or softener already in the house. These details help put a screening result in context, even when two taps give similar readings.

What the free test checks

Three useful tap-water readings

The free in-home water test checks hardness, chlorine and total dissolved solids (TDS). We come to your home, take the readings at your tap and explain what they mean in plain English. There is no obligation to buy a system.

  • Hardness

A reading related to dissolved calcium and magnesium, the minerals behind hard-water scale.

  • Chlorine

A disinfectant used in some public water systems. The free test checks chlorine; it does not promise a chloramine reading.

  • Total dissolved solids (TDS)

A combined reading of dissolved material in the water. It does not identify each substance on its own.

What it isn’t

A screening, not a certified lab test

The free in-home test checks hardness, chlorine and TDS. It is a screening, not a certified laboratory analysis, and it cannot tell you that water is safe to drink.

If you are on a private well, the EPA advises testing every year for total coliform bacteria, nitrates, total dissolved solids and pH. It also advises testing right away if you notice a change in taste, odor or color. Those bacteria and nitrate tests belong with a certified lab.

We’ll help you understand your results and point you to a certified lab when that’s the right next step.

City water vs. well water

What we already know about local water

If you are on Weatherford city water, the city publishes a yearly Water Quality Report. It gives a helpful city-wide average. Your own tap can still differ because of your pipes, your water heater and any treatment already in the house.

If you are on a private well, there is no city report for your water. You are responsible for it, which makes testing even more useful.

The City of Weatherford's 2024 Water Quality Report lists total hardness at 178 ppm as calcium carbonate (about 10.4 grains per gallon). The U.S. Geological Survey classes 121–180 mg/L as hard water.

Parker County is in the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (Hood, Montague, Parker and Wise counties). The EPA says private well owners are responsible for their own water and advises testing every year.
